Circuit Design Engineer (Project Mgmt.)

Designed equipment, cables, backhaul and customer circuit paths and segments in the Granite Database from the MSN to the Node B such as Ethernet (ETTC), GIGE, EVC, DS3 and DS1. Assigned equipment, CFA and circuit segments to circuit paths in Granite.  Project managed circuit flow from conception to test and turn up. Handled special projects and act as team representative for i.e.; LTE, Ethernet Up-speed, Capital Growth, VT Carrier add project and OC12- DS3 backhaul migration project. Created spreadsheets in Excel for various backhaul projects.  Attended weekly conference calls with Vendors, Carriers and Colleagues to determine show stoppers and establish action items.  Opened CTS trouble tickets for ETMC1 card adds, extended wiring requests, internal backhaul circuits, etc.

Lead Central Office Engineer (Implementation Mgmt. and Project Mgmt.)

Lead a team of Field Engineers on priority, direction and equipment issues for the Broadband Initiative in VT, NH and ME. Ran weekly calls with all Field Engineers to go over and address issues, set new standards and processes and site specific updates. Took and sent meeting minutes for calls and forwarded to all Field Engineers to keep them in the loop on Broadband project. Responsible for the Project Management including scheduling of Central Office Engineering for the CORE Broadband Build in VT, NH and ME. Ordered Equipment for Power, Transport and Infrastructure. Used ORACLE for Ordering all equipment. Worked with Logistics to schedule equipment delivery (scheduling cranes as needed). Worked with the Power regarding new equipment installations to ensure PDF, Battery and Fixed Generators all met requirements at site. Was instrumental in clearing road blocks and propelling the project forward to meet target deadlines. Coordinated all teams involved to ensure across the board communication and teamwork. Worked very hard to establish strong vendor relationships and teamwork within the project. Responsible for interviewing, hiring and mentoring all new employees for the Broadband project. Processed weekly low and high level reports for the Director and VP of Broadband Engineering. Used TIRKS to determine circuit designs and to access specific site information for all Central Offices involved. Assisted Provisioning and circuit design by designing circuits that were in queue in Metasolv (migrated over from TIRKS). Produced project budget reports for my Director and spoke publicly among my peers and executive levels in the company in regards to the progress of the Broadband Initiative utilizing Microsoft PowerPoint.

Carrier Access Analyst (Project Mgmt.)(Telecom Billing)

(Perm) Cox Communications West Warwick, RI - 11/2006 - 1/2008

Responsible for Printing, Reviewing and Adjusting all Carrier Telecom Bills for Cox New England utilizing Business Objects.  Created Binders to organize bills per month and created Master Monthly Financial Reports for the VP of Business Sales.

  Was in charge of Project Managing all of the New Builds/Installs for the Carrier Access Department for Cox New England coordinating with various departments such as Fiber Construction, Network and SONET Engineering and acting as customer liaison. My responsibilities include maintaining customer base by providing exceptional service to Carriers enabling strong customer retention, establishing and maintaining strong customer relationships, supplying reports to upper management for Carrier Installs, Carrier Accounts, Cox Lit Building List, and Carrier Troubles. Was assigned to all Wireless Carrier Accounts and Project Managed large scale new builds in which we lit numerous cell sites with Fiber. Acted as the 4th level escalation on all Carrier trouble tickets and processes dealing with various departments and customers to work on a resolution.

Equipment Engineer (Implementation Mgmt. and Project Mgmt.)

(Contractor) Verizon Wireless East Hartford, Connecticut - 12/2004 - 12/2006
 

Budgeted and ordered all equipment for cell sites throughout CT, MA and VT.  This included new build cell sites (850 and 1900) utilizing CDMA. Also included HD adds, carrier adds, EVDO, G1’s, Antenna Projects, Metawave Removals, PDF adds and/or changes as well as Rectifier and battery plant to existing cell sites. We worked in conjunction with various departments to coordinate site acceptance by strict deadlines. Submitted purchase orders for all equipment needed and project managed orders from installation to final turn up. Over saw Fixed Generator testing at site in order to be sure of timely power transfer from batteries to Generator. Performed final site walk to create punch list with Construction Management in order to complete new build and hand over to System Performance for turn up of Cell site. Supplied new or replacement parts (and equipment) required that may be missing or damaged to New Build crews, Cell techs, etc. Budgeted, scheduled, coordinated and project managed large scale projects such as G1 and Fiber to the Hut projects (numerous cell sites). Reported details of projects in a weekly build meeting to Engineers, Regulatory/Real Estate, Managers and Directors.

Sr. Network Engineer (Team Lead for Rhode Island)
(Contractor) IntelliMark-IT - New England Region - 8/2004 - 12/2004

Responsible for site surveys, inventory of assets and network integration of all customer network sites (handled the Fleet Bank to Bank of America network integration) in the New England region.  Project managed each new site to completion working with all Network and Telephony equipment including but not limited to: CISCO Routers, CISCO Switches, various Avaya Key Systems and PBX’s utilizing the Motorola Symbol to do so.  Worked within strict deadline parameters while training new employees on site and had to have them fully trained to go solo in 2 days.  As the Regional Team Lead I had to field calls from all my reporting employees as well as fill in during their absence.

Ordered backhaul circuits (primarily DS1’s) from BTS to Switch.  Coordinated and cut new cell site builds. Project managed orders to ensure timely delivery to meet deadlines. Interface with LEC, Carrier, Construction Managers, Field Technicians, RF Engineers to ensure deadlines were met on all new site builds and Telco installation. Handled over 100 sites for four different Construction Managers with accuracy and timeliness. Submitted ASR’s, Built Circuit Designs in Granite and updated the Insite Construction database.

Sr. Telecom Technician (Lead CO Tech and Field Tech for Transport and Data) (Implementation Mgmt. and Project Mgmt.)(Test and Turn Up – T1, DS3)

Installed, maintained, operated, tested and turned-up all equipment and circuits inside our hubs, collocation cages, POP’s and customer premises. This included but was not limited to; DS0 (56K & 64K), DS1, DS3, STS1, STS3, OC1, OC3, OC3C, OC12, OC12C, OC48’s, OC192’s, Titan 5500 3/1 DACS, Titan 532 1/0 DACS, Racal PremNet 5500, Cascade 5000, AI switch, and DCD. Learned all Transport, ATM, Frame Relay, LAN/WAN, TCP/IP and Ethernet Platforms. Have experience with Lucent, Nortel and Fujitsu Optical Equipment as well as WDM and DWDM (up to 16 colors). Familiar with Telnet, FTP, ProComm, ProComm Plus, Sunset T10, T3, STS1 and OCX test sets in addition to the T-Bird, TTC2000, Digital Lightwave, Noyes Power Meter, Optic Scope and Laser Source and trained on the EXFO OTDR and EXFO Power Meter. Worked on trouble tickets (carried a pager and was on call) to resolve outages in a timely manner. Interfaced with customers, vendors, engineering, provisioning, circuit design, sales, ILEC’s, CLEC’s and IXC’s on orders.
 

Special Duties include: Ran and managed the BMW project where my crew installed, tested, and turned-up seven three node Lucent OC48’s (Dual Bays) in a matter of 2 months. Also managed crew to achieve other various projects that involved working closely with the Outside and Inside Plant Engineer and Operations Manager such as Fiber splicing projects and new OC48 (FT-2000) and OC12 (DDM-2000) builds. Assisted with the Lucent 5ESS switch when needed.  Performed various other duties such as Software upgrades, Alarm Verification of equipment, PM’s, PMI, Monthly Fixed Generator Testing, HVAC, Change Controls, MOPS, Site Surveys, Fiber Rolls, Circuit Rolls (DS3’s and DS1’s), Installing or Decommissioning equipment at hub sites, collos and customer locations, Install Bays, Ladder Rack, Fiber Panduit, LGX’s, FDP’s, FDF’s, DSX1 panels, DSX3 Panels, Run, pull and terminate 6 pack and 12 pack coax cable (run to length and BNC ends were made to avoid excess). We ran, terminated and tested CAT3, CAT5, 24 Pack, ABAM (28 pack) Installed Muxes, Routers and CSU/DSU’s. Ran, cleaned, terminated and tested Single Mode and Multi-Mode Fiber in Hubs, Collos, and Customer premise. Installed Fuse panels and ran DC power (A side and B side from Fuse panel to equipment), installed and or replaced batteries/rectifiers when needed. Tagged and labeled circuits, power cables, DSX panels, and FOTS with pertinent information required. Created technical diagrams as needed for Ground Bars and Optical Rings and wrote white papers for Racal PremNet 5500 and Titan 532 1/0 DACS to allow for ease of training fellow employees. I created a Master Log Book of all Providence Operations sites (Hubs, Collos and Customer) that included Ring Diagrams, Site Surveys, Equipment and Circuit Inventory of site as well as Street Maps with directions to each site and the exact location of equipment. I also turned up three New Collocation sites in Verizon that previously failed final inspection with another Technician.  Once assigned this task, I cleaned up the Collo Cages, fixed all issues and passed final inspection first try on all three sites. Additional responsibilities included reports for Sr. Management as well as managing the Accts. Payable and ALL purchasing for Providence Local Ops.

Supported the Telecom Account Executive (Sales Rep) in pre-sale, post-sale technical functions along with working Telecom Billing issues and issuing customer credits. Also attended customer meetings with AE for technical support and followed orders through from Order Entry to final test and turn up. Handled all inventory control functions for pagers including internal and external programming of all pagers. Also in charge of cleaning, repairing and ordering (within budget), all new and used pagers. I was responsible for technical maintenance of the UniPage and Glenayre paging terminals as well as the voice mail systems. I was also in charge of training, hiring and firing of employees in my department.
